The Philadelphia Phillies hired left-hander Jesus Luzardo to strengthen the mound.
According to the Major League's official website MLB.com on the 23rd (Korea time), Philadelphia gave up prospects Starin Kaba and Emarion Boyd through a trade with the Miami Marlins and brought Luzardo and minor league catcher and outfielder Paul McIntosh.
Philadelphia showed good performance this season, ranking eighth overall in the Major League and fourth in the National League with a 3.81 ERA, but decided that additional recruitment was needed, so the trade was carried out.메이저놀이터
"Lujardo will join the strong Philadelphia starters consisting of Jack Wheeler, Aaron Nola, Ranger Suarez and Christopher," said MLB Trade Rumors, which covers the news of the Major League transfer market. "It will be an attractive additional force."
Luzardo is a left-hander born in 1997 and was selected in the third round of the 2016 rookie draft by the Washington Nationals. He made his major league debut for the Oakland Athletics in 2019 and went 512 innings in 105 career games (89 starts) with a 26-34 record with a 4.29 ERA.
Luzardo, who played a significant role in the starters after being traded to Miami during the 2021 season, went 10-10 with a 3.58 ERA in 178 ⅔ innings in 32 games last year, earning his first double-digit win.
However, Luzardo has been sluggish in 12 games this season with a record of 3-6 in 66 ⅔ innings and a 5.00 ERA, and has not played since June due to injuries.
Philadelphia expects that it will be of great help to the team if it recovers its health despite Luzardo's poor performance. MLB.com explained, "Luzardo's recruitment provides flexibility to the starting lineup and is a strategic choice to prepare for Suarez's possible transition to the FA."
MLBTR predicted, "It is unclear whether Luzardo will perform as an ace, but Philadelphia does not have to rely too much on him," adding, "The team's power has definitely been upgraded compared to when Taijuan Walker started."
